The Essex Loafer
A modern penny loafer, refined
for everyday wear.
Design Intent
Reduced to its essential elements and rebuilt with a more relaxed, modern point of view.
Proportion
Toe Shape
A rounded toe softens the silhouette and removes unnecessary formality
Vamp Length
A shortened vamp creates a more relaxed, everyday proportion
Welt Extension
A reduced welt extension keeps the profile clean and lightweight.
Construction
Moc Construction
Built using a true moccasin construction, allowing the upper to wrap naturally around the foot.
Blake Stitch
Blake construction allows the upper and sole to sit closer together, creating a cleaner profile with less visual weight.
Rubber Inserts
Improves traction and durability in high-wear areas without compromising the overall profile.
Materials and Detailing
Full-Grain Leather
Sourced from Leather Working Group rated Italian tanneries, selected for its natural finish and ability to develop character over time.
Beef Roll
A classic structural detail, refined to feel cleaner and more balanced within the overall form.
Colorblocking
A balanced use of contrast reduces the formality of the loafer, giving it more versatility without losing its character.
Creative Collaboration
Collaborated with a local illustrator to reinterpret the loafer through a more expressive, community-driven lens.
Extended the product beyond traditional campaign imagery into something more playful and culturally relevant.
Culture & Community
Offset wearing the Essex Loafer in Retro Red / Black. Paris Fashion Week, October 2023.
Adopted organically across a range of personal styles, the loafer moved beyond a campaign into real-world wear.
